Power 

  • Power output of the LLLT device, measured in watts (W).

  • Total energy output of the LED source.

  • Higher wattage means the device can emit more energy

  • Many LLLT devices for sale are grossly underpowered, even the ones priced for thousands of dollars.

Irradiance 

  • Measure of power density/intensity of light (mW/cm² )

  • Represents device's power concentration over specific area.

  • Crucial for determining how much energy is actually being delivered to the tissue being treated.

Dosage

  • Measure of the energy dose delivered by the LLLT device (J/cm²)

  • Calculated by multiplying the power density (mW/cm²) by the exposure time in seconds.

  • Critical in LLLT as it defines the total amount of energy delivered to a specific area during a treatment session.
